Trauma & DBT Therapy in New York & New Jersey

Expert, individualized therapy for trauma, complex emotions, and patterns that have been difficult to change.

I’m Alka Chaudhary, LMHC-D, a trauma and DBT therapist offering private, highly personalized therapy for adults throughout New York and New Jersey. My approach combines advanced trauma-informed care with Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help you understand what happened, change patterns that no longer serve you, and build a life that feels more aligned with who you are.

In addition to many other services, I provide individual therapy for trauma, BPD, emotion dysregulation, suicidality, relationship difficulties, and other challenges that require more than surface-level treatment.

Whether this is your first time reaching out for support, or you’ve been on this path for a while, it takes courage to explore something new. Wherever you are in your journey, you're here now. That matters.

Therapy that understands both your history and your context.

As a South Asian therapist and child of immigrants, I understand that healing doesn't happen in a vacuum. Family expectations, cultural identity, immigration experiences, achievement, relationships, and generational patterns can all shape how we understand ourselves and what we believe is possible.

Align with What’s Possible

Therapy can be a place to understand what has shaped you, untangle what no longer serves you, and begin imagining something different.

At Aligned With Alka, therapy is grounded in the belief that meaningful change is possible, even when you've been living with the same patterns for years. Whether you're healing from trauma, learning to navigate intense emotions, working through relationship challenges, or simply trying to better understand yourself, our work is about creating space for something new.

Sometimes that means developing the skills to get through the hardest moments. Sometimes it means looking at an old story from a new perspective. And sometimes it means giving yourself permission to imagine a life that feels more aligned with who you are now, rather than who you've had to be.

The goal isn't to become someone different. It's to better understand yourself, make intentional choices, and create a life that feels genuinely your own.
